Recently, the results of the 16th "Zhong Tu Cup"—China Youth Environmental Map Contest in 2019 were announced. Eight students from SMS won the first prize and 15 won the second prize, ranking first in China.
Among them, the works of Yuxi Chen and Yunxin Hu, "Have you missed lessons?! –Survey of training institutions around the school," were awarded as The Most Creative Work. Five teachers, Hui Liu, Jintao Cai, Teng Wang, Haiyang Wang and Zhefang, Xie were awards as excellent instructors and excellent organizational teachers. SMS was rated as excellent organizational school.
Sponsored by the Center of Geography and Sustainable Development of Beijing Normal University, the China youth environmental map contest aims to enhance the environmental awareness of primary and secondary school students and improve their skills in outdoor observation, map making and map use. The designated theme this year is “Crossroads,” which is open to all primary and secondary school students (ages 6-18) nationwide.
This competition received a total of 1205 works from primary and secondary school students from all over the country. In junior middle school group, 203 works won prizes, 23 works were from our school, accounting for more than 11%, ranking first in the country. Congratulations to the winning students and teachers!
Adhering to the new curriculum concept of "learning geography that is useful for life" and "learning geography that is useful for lifelong development," the geography group of SMS takes "geography practice class" as the main position, innovates classroom teaching mode, advocates natural education and cultivates students' discipline accomplishment from multiple perspectives. In 2016, the geography group was rated as "Shenzhen Characteristic Group."
